In 2006, Chicago was ranked as the #1 fattest city in the nation by Men's Health and Fitness magazine. Aesthetics aside, a long list of health-related problems accompany this unflattering title: high blood pressure, unhealthy cholesterol levels, arthritis, heart disease and strokes, to name a few. These health problems know no age barriers, befalling youth as well as senior citizens. Clinical studies have proven that lifestyle changes drastically improve, and in some cases cure, these problems - and Ratio 1:1 can help!

Ratio 1:1 was created to offer an alternative to overpriced and ineffective private personal training programs. We achieved this goal by combining customized training programs with the new age technology of nutrition and supplements. We offer affordable weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payment plans.

We started in 1998 as a private studio providing our clients with the best in qualified trainers, body analysis, nutritional programs, and healthy prepared meals-to-go. We use only state-of-the-art equipment including Nebula, Quinton, Nautilus, Cobra, Lifecycle and Stairmaster. Our goal was to provide our clients with an atmosphere not found in big health clubs and gyms. To that end, we eliminated all of the negative experiences our that clients had had, such as long term contracts, inexperienced staff, vulgar music, and inappropriately dressed patrons.

Alexandria Harris

Hey everyone!!! My name is Alex and I am one of the newest personal trainers at Ratio 1:1 Fitness. I am a lupus warrior that wanted to make a lifestyle change for my overall health. It was a challenge, but I pushed through the obstacles. I started my weight loss journey in 2017. I lost 65 pounds in 9 months. I first changed my food intake and then I focused on my workouts. I studied the target areas of my body and from there I was able to lose a substantial amount of weight. During the pandemic I instructed zoom workouts two to three times a week, and my clients followed a step-by-step eating plan. I’m so excited and very appreciative of this new journey that I am embarking on at Ratio 1:1 Fitness because I have acquired a strong passion for helping people achieve their weight loss and fitness goals. “Let’s do this together!”

David Coleman

Hello, my name is David Coleman and I am elated to be apart of the Ratio 1:1 family. One thing about me that you may notice in person is that I recently retired from the military. I am proud of my military career because I finished as an NCO (sergeant), which is known as the backbone of the United States Army. My passion for fitness began as a kid admiring the physiques of comic book heroes. I am not trying to look like Superman; however, the reason why I train is to achieve the best physique that I can. This goal doesn’t not have an expiration date and I strive every day to give my best time I step in the gym. I am thrilled and excited to have the skills and talent to help clients achieve outstanding results. See you soon!





OUR SERVICES

BODY ANALYSIS - THE RATIO 1:1 WAY

Body weight alone is not a clear indicator of health or fitness because it does not distinguish how many pounds are fat and how many are muscle. But our body analysis techniques help describe the amount and distribution of fat and lean muscle tissue in your body.

We employ a combination of girth (circumference) measurements and skinfold tests (using specialized calipers) to determine your body composition. Our body analyses are highly accurate. They also provide a way to track your progress. We track your progress by taking pictures, girth measurements, and skinfold test every 6 to 8 weeks.


PERSONALIZED NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMS

We know that one-size-fit-all and fad diets don't work. Our nutritional programs are personalized especially for you. Since they are designed around the foods that you like to eat, you are more likely to follow the plan.

New Clients: There is a one-time fee of $75.00 that covers the initial body analysis and the nutritional program.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Each one-on-one session is customized to the needs and goals of the client. A typical session may include warm up, exercises for the abs, strength training, cardio, stretching, etc.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Did you know that massage therapy boosts your immune system? It does that and much more. It is also a natural pain reliever as it releases endorphins. Massage therapy also: eases medication dependence; exercises and stretches weak, tight, or atrophied muscles; helps athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts; and, more.

We recommend getting a massage every 4 to 6 weeks. A one hour massage is only $80.00.

"After losing 33 pounds on my own, I was unable to progress any further in my quest for weight loss and fitness. After almost 18 months of seeing no results, I convinced myself that I was just "Big Boned" and was meant to remain a size 18.
